yum

Feeding Willa is always an adventure. She is developing fabulously in every area EXCEPT eating. She's really curious and interested in food. She wants to lick everything and taste everything and hold everything and take bites of everything, but that's it. She doesn't want to actually eat a real meal.

It takes her 5 days to finish a container of baby food. She does better with adult food, but that isn't always safe since she doesn't have molars. I read all of these articles on what a 9 month old should be consuming and Willa doesn't even come close. It stresses me out. I can't believe in less than 3 months she's supposed to be getting most of her nutrition from food and not from nursing. We have a long way to go.

Tonight at dinner she swatted the spoon of sweet potatoes for the umpteenth time and somehow sweet potatoes ended up on the bridge of her nose and nowhere else. I had to laugh and take some pictures.

She didn't think it was very funny.
We see tears at some point during most meals. So sorry sweet girl. We'll figure this out together.

On a happier note, she loves drinking water from her sippy cup, and she's starting to figure out how to take sips all by herself. She used to just hold it and chew on the spout

but now she has figured out how to get some water all on her own. She arches her back and bends way back. It cracks me up. I love watching her learn new things.

I love that...charts farts! She'll get it.

She looks so cute, Lindsay. She looks a lot like you in these pictures! Her hair seems to be getting long too!

Eventually everyone learns to eat, right? It will be fine. And who likes squished-up sweet potatoes anyway. (Except as makeup. Not everyone can pull that look off, but Willa does it great.)

Parker does the same thing. He's been eating toast, yogurt and granola bars forever. That is all he will eat and he never eats all of it. As long as she's growing, I'm sure she is just fine. I love the first pic with the sweet potatoes on her nose. The look on her face is spectacular. lol

I've had the trickiest time with Ike, too. and same thing with adult food- he likes it way better than baby food. Don't stress- she'll start eating eventually. She obviously doesn't appear malnourished. Have you tried yogurt? That's the one thing that Ike loves. I can sneak flax seed or wheat cereal into it and he doesn't even notice.

Maybe she's just watching her weight ...

We have the same issue going on here... Have you tried one of those food smashers? You just fill it up with about a half cup of whatever you're eating and turn the wheel and it mashes it up. I love it- although I have yet to break it out with baby LIncoln. It even grinds meats- when you're ready for that.

Thanks guys. I guess I'm not around many other 9 month olds. It makes me feel better to know that I'm not alone.

My mom bought me a hand grinder. I haven't used it yet. I'll definitely give it a try.

I can relate. I'm hitting the 9-month-old stage right now. It's hilarious. Finn refuses the sippy cup...it's too much work for him (at least the Nuby brand that I have is).
